The Challenge
K. Liddell Plumbing & Heating is a trades business serving Dumbarton and Greater Glasgow — experienced, reliable, and well-regarded locally, but without a digital presence that reflected any of that. The brief was to build a site that communicated trust and professionalism quickly, made it easy for customers to get in touch, and worked well for someone searching for an emergency plumber at 11pm on their phone.
The core tension in most trades websites is that they either look too cheap to trust or too polished to feel approachable. The goal here was to thread that needle — credible and capable, but clearly a real, local business.
Creative Direction
The visual direction leans into authority and clarity. A deep navy background gives the site a premium, confident feel that most local trades sites don't attempt — it immediately separates K. Liddell from the template-built competition. Bright blue accents carry the brand colour and direct attention to key actions: call now, view services, get started.
Large, bold headline typography establishes the offer immediately. Stats — years of experience, jobs completed, 24/7 availability — are surfaced early to build confidence before a visitor has to read a single paragraph. The structure is deliberately top-heavy with trust signals: credentials, coverage area, and customer testimonials all appear before any hard sell.
The coverage map is a practical decision as much as a visual one. For a local trades business, "do you cover my area?" is the first question most visitors have. Making that answerable at a glance removes a friction point that would otherwise result in a phone call or a bounce.
